U.S. Navy honors Baseball Hall of Fame members with new ship, USS Cooperstown

The U.S. Navy has christened its newest ship, the USS Cooperstown, in New York City, with the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum playing a significant role in the ceremony.[0] The 351-foot-long ship is the first to be named after the New York village and is named in honor of the 70 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame who served in the military.[1] The USS Cooperstown will have each of its staterooms named after a Hall of Famer who served in the military, with a replica of their Cooperstown plaque on their doors.[2] The ship will feature 27 Navy veterans, including Stan Musial, Larry Doby, Buck O'Neil, and Yogi Berra.[3]

Hall of Famers Johnny Bench and Joe Torre represented their fellow Hall of Fame members at the ceremony, with Bench stating that it was an honor to represent the Hall of Fame.[0] This will be an astounding and remarkable occurrence.[4] You look at guys like Ted Williams and Bob Feller and Jerry Coleman who gave up all of those years of their careers and lives, to enlist and fight for our freedom,”It will be an amazing, amazing thing.[4] You look at guys like Ted Williams and Bob Feller and Jerry Coleman who gave up all of those years of their careers and lives, to enlist and fight for our freedom,”fast, optimally-manned, mission-tailored surface combatants that operate in near-shore and open-ocean environments,”fast, optimally-manned, mission-tailored surface combatants that operate in near-shore and open-ocean environments,”America's Away Team,”America's Away Team,”LCS 23 honors the baseball greats who, in service of our nation, sacrificed their baseball careers for us.[7] I have full confidence that the officers and crew of this great ship will continue to honor their legacy,”LCS 23 honors the baseball greats who, in service of our nation, sacrificed their baseball careers for us.[7] I have full confidence that the officers and crew of this great ship will continue to honor their legacy,”Golden Ticket,”Golden Ticket,
